米高摩亞的新作《華氏 11/9》相比他之前的作品，有顯著不同，嘻笑怒駡的調子減少了很多，後段大談美國的淪落，更是嚴肅，發人深省。
電影談的是美國的問題，雖然不少是其他地方都有的問題，但如對美國的背景不是太熟悉的話，難免有點隔岸觀火。在片尾曲出現時，我認得那應該是一位加拿大歌手K'naan的歌聲，頗感愕然，一套如此強調愛國的美國電影，竟然以一位外國歌手的歌來作結，是否有點那個。我卻認不岀那首歌，特別留意字幕，但一大堆歌曲名單，我依然錯過了。回家後再追尋，原來那是翻唱Bob Dylan的舊作《With God on Our Side》，的確沒有收錄在他自己的個人專輯內。那是在2012年，國際特赦組織五十週年紀念時，特別請來世界各地歌手翻唱Dylan舊作，輯成四光碟的《Chimes of Freedom: The Songs of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years of Amnesty International》特輯。
K'naan還特別重新加上新詞，以切合他自己的背景。K'naan 原出生於非洲索瑪利，十二歲隨家人移居紐約，一年後再搬到多倫多定居。他開始學英語並接受教育，最喜歡聴Rap音樂來學英語。他頗有天分，後來成為一個詩人，唱作歌手和畫家，很喜歡將自己和弱勢社群的經歷寫進作品，得到唱片公司賞識，在2004年推出自己的專輯。他的大突破是在2010年世界盃舉行前，其中一大贊助商汽水公司選中他的一首作品《Wavin' Flag》作為正式廣告歌，更翻譯成多國語言版（中文版便是張學友有份參與的《旗開得勝》），使他得到超大的曝光率。到2012年推出的《Country, God or the Girl》専輯時，得到多位音樂界巨星如Bono, Keith Richards, Nas等客串助陣。
說回電影，其中重提2014年Flint市的食水問題，除了是導演摩亞的家鄕之外，更是官僚體制運作下極端例子。例如當時的州長Rick Snyder普遍認為是要負全責，更是知情下行事，多次被民眾要求下台，但依然直到2018年尾任期屆滿才離職。而在2016年5月，總統奥巴馬探訪Flint市，民眾以為政府出手相助，誰知道總統在講話時，刻意要求一杯水，但只象徵式在唇邊碰一下，show味極濃，然後叫民眾放心飲用，大家都極度忿怒，也徹底失望。在某程度上，一般民眾總祈望有包青天替大家出頭，在無力感籠罩全球的今天，似乎已是大家所能做的了。可惜，現實是，權力越大，責任越少。為民請命？誰會做吃力不討好的事？
要自救，當然要靠自己。鏡頭一轉，在多次校園槍擊案發生之後，管制槍械的法例依然沒有寸進，於是一班中學生便組織起來，透過社交媒體連結其他學生，上州政府，國會發言，更發動大規模罷課。看著看著，不禁懷疑這是美國還是香港？所不同的，就是在美國沒有特別針對打壓年輕人，在香港，有學生有異議，立即被批評為搞事，要參選便馬上被DQ（選也不能選），去政府示威，他們卻關閉示威區，連公園也圍封，走上街頭，他們卻說是動亂，所有岀路都被封了，他們還厚顏無恥地說是逼不得已才開槍！
如果神已經站在你那邊，你何苦還要與民為敵？
