Willy Lam (林和立) is an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for China Studies and the Department of History, Chinese University of Hong Kong. Dr Lam has forty years of experience in researching and writing about Chinese politics, economics and foreign affairs. He is the author of eight books on China, including Chinese Politics in the Era of Xi Jinping (Routledge, 2015); and Routledge Handbook of the Chinese Communist Party (Routledge, 2017). Lam also has forty years of experience writing poems in Chinese and English. He hopes his column "Poems and Politics" will elicit more discussion about the trajectory of Hong Kong's political and cultural development.
